What do you think of the recent Kyle Richards plastic surgery? The “Desperate Housewives” star recently confirmed that she had gotten some work done on her nose, adding to her roster of plastic surgery that includes a liposuction procedure seven years ago.
Motherhood was a major factor in her decision to have plastic surgery. “After having four kids, no matter what exercise I did, the love handles just wouldn’t go away,” she told Bravo TV. She wanted to look good in casual clothes she had owned before motherhood again. “I’m very happy with the results.”
It’s easy to dismiss this as yet another story of celebrities who had plastic surgery with mixed results. I still think Kenny Rogers should have asked for his money back. However, Kyle Richards’ results are better than most and there has been speculation that her hubby is very happy with the results, too. If there’s a point to all these celebrity plastic surgery stories beyond just making the tabloids, it’s that if you’re unhappy with your nose, your inability to lose weight after pregnancy, or just had an unfortunate genetic luck of the draw that made your face look a little “off”, you should not be ashamed of correcting that so that your physical image doesn’t damage your self-esteem.
She does look like less of a frump. This is a celebrity who has had a struggle that is, unfortunately, not uncommon for women. Her body image was affecting her self-esteem in an environment where her appearance could affect the amount of money she brings in. Her decision to have plastic surgery was effectively for reasons that meant she could relate to many desperate housewives who live in the real world and often feel unattractive after having had a few kids. The only real difference is the number of cameras that are usually pointed her way.
That means it’s hard to bash her for having had plastic surgeries that actually made news. This is how the gossip rags generally sell magazines and get views from people who actually care about what goes on with the stars of “Desperate Housewives.” Kyle Richards is simply an example of the many celebrities who keep the public interest by letting matters like plastic surgery make the news and, therefore, get what amounts to free publicity for her TV show. That’s how you bring in the money in the entertainment business.
Lady Gaga’s nose looks good and so does her figure after her plastic surgery. If she’s happy with her body, everybody else should be happy, too, because this is a boost to her self-esteem in a world that values physical appearance. When you’re taking care of yourself, you’re sending the message that you care about not only your own health, but also the impressions you send to the people who might see you on TV. The rest of us might see plastic surgery as an expensive and possibly painful procedure. For her, it’s both a living and an important boost to her self-image and I’m just glad the plastic surgeons didn’t do to her what they did to Kenny Rogers.
